An urban intervention to tackle the problem of students not having enough good sleep.

Students are struggling with a lack of good sleep. The amount of sleep they get is important for their health. Not getting enough sleep can lead to problems like depression, weight issues and more.

To help students sleep better without having to use any technology or expensive products we created ‘The Sleepvending Machine’. By using a positive activating method, this machine will take students through 5 steps you can apply to your ritual, starting with the most frequently mentioned complaint, worries.

THE STEPS

According to research a couple things can help improve sleep in an easy and affordable way.

Things like writing down your worries one moment of the day can release stress and eaze your mind before you go to bed. Also drinking chamomile tea half an hour before you go to bed can help you warm up and relax your body.

These are a few examples of easy ways to improve your sleepritual.

STEP 1:

Pick your favorite sleeping position

STEP 2:

Pick one of the things you worry about most. Example, school, future or money.

STEP 3:

Write down your worry and put it in the cabinet.

STEP 4:

What do you need, warmth? comfort? Pick one of the 5 options and go to the connected letter.

STEP 5:

At step 5 the student receives a present that is linked to what they need. This could be a soft pillow cover, chamomile tea, an alarm, a book or a scented candle.
